Solitary osteochondroma: spontaneous regression.

چکیده
A 15-year-old female had been followed in our department of pediatric radiology since the age of 11, in order to control a solitary osteochondroma (exostosis) of the right distal femur. Radiographs of the right distal femur (face-profile) and high frequency ultrasound studies (12-5 MHz) of this area were performed to assess the size of the lesion and the thickness of the cartilaginous cap. Follow up of the lesion showed an increase in size from the age of 11 to the age of 12 with a a cartilaginous cap thickness of 3 mm. Coincident with a growth plate closure a thinning of the cartilaginous cap was documented by ultrasounds, reducing from 3 mm to < 1 mm at the age of 13 (Fig. C. Cartilaginous cap of the osteochondroma at the age of 12 C1 and 15 years C2). A spontaneous regression of the osteochondroma occurred in the following years ranging from the age of 13 (Fig. A) to the age of 15 (Fig. B).

متن کاملSolitary Lumbar Spinal Osteochondroma Arising from the L3 Articular Process
Solitary lumbar spinal osteochondroma with neurological symptoms is very rare. We report the case of an 81-year-old man with radicular pain caused by lumbar solitary osteochondroma. A computed tomography (CT) scan showed a bony tumor arising from the left L2/3 articular process. Intraoperative findings showed that the tumor originated from the left superior articular process of the L3 vertebra....
متن کاملAn Unusual Presentation of Osteochondroma in a Sexagenarian
Osteochondroma is the most commonly-found benign bone tumour. It is a benign, cartilaginous-capped bony projection. They are usually present on the bony surfaces of the long bones in adolescents and young adults. The risk of malignant transformation is <1% with solitary osteochondroma. We present a rare case of an osteochondroma in a patient with advanced age and an unusual location.

Abnormal scarring with keloid formation after osteochondroma excision in children with MHE has not been previously described. METHODS A retrospective double-cohort study was undertaken to determine if childr...
متن کاملCervical cord compression by solitary osteochondroma of the atlas.
A 28 year old woman presented a syndrome of slow spinal compression evolving over four and a half years at the level C1--C2 vertebrae due to a solitary osteochondroma of the posterior arch of the atlas which was excised by laminectomy. Radiographys of the skeleton did not show the presence of other osteogenic tumours. This is the fifth case of solitary osteochondroma to be published. Elsewhere,...
